Privacy Covenant
An Uncompromising Guarantee of Sovereign Reader Privacy
1. Zero Tracking & No Telemetry
The Forgotten Library does not employ cookies for tracking, third-party advertising trackers, invasive behavioral telemetry, or session recording scripts. What you search, what you read, and how long you dwell upon a page remains known only to your own mind and your local device.
2. 100% Local Device Storage
All personal reading data — including books saved to “My Shelf”, custom bookmarks, chapter progress percentages, and typeface styling preferences — are stored exclusively within your browser's standard IndexedDB and localStorage sandbox. We do not operate user accounts or central user profile databases.
3. Data Portability & Erasure
Because your reading records reside on your local machine, clearing your browser's cache or browsing data instantly removes all shelf records and bookmarks without leaving any traces behind on any remote server.
4. External Archival APIs
When querying public domain book texts or cover metadata, our server communicates directly with public repositories (Project Gutenberg, Open Library, Internet Archive, and Google Books) via secure server-side proxies to ensure your personal IP address is never directly exposed to third-party endpoints.
